PARIS THROUGH THE EYES OF… OLIVER PIRAS & ALESSANDRA DEL FAVERO

What do a couple of Italians do in Paris ? Heading up the star-rated restaurant Il Carpaccio, Chefs Oliver Piras and Alessandra Del Favero describe their gourmet and romantic experiences.

Your favourite street?

Oliver Piras: Rue Sainte-Anne (2nd Arr.) in the Japanese neighbourhood with its authentic restaurants taking me back to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Alessandra Del Favero: Rue Denoyez in Belleville (20th Arr.), the best street-art street in Paris.

A romantic stroll?

Oliver Piras: Beneath the Eiffel Tower, of course!

Alessandra Del Favero: Paris is the City of Love, so all strolls are romantic.

Your secret Paris?

Oliver Piras: The Saint-Martin Canal (11th Arr.) lined by cellars full of amazing wines.

Alessandra Del Favero: I love Parc Monceau (8th Arr.), full of flowers and colours.

An enticing table?

Oliver Piras: Restaurants are my passion. Among my favourites: Le Servan (11th Arr.), Passerini (12th Arr.), Menkicchi Ramen (1st Arr.), Fratelli Castellano (15th Arr.)

Alessandra Del Favero: Le Servan where I adore the Chinese influences, and Kisin (8th Arr.). Its Udon noodles are sensational!

A boutique you are fond of?

Oliver Piras: Definitely the Nishikidori grocery in the 1st arrondissement. I unearth new products and equipment there which inspire me a great deal.

Alessandra Del Favero: I love the Ogata boutique in Le Marais (3rd Arr.) with its teas, porcelain, Wagashi and tea-room, taking me back to Japan. I also adore perfume stores such as Buly 1803, Le Labo and Nose.

Paris by night?

Oliver Piras: Sipping amazing cocktails at La Candelaria (3rd Arr.) and the Little Red Door (3rd Arr.).

Alessandra Del Favero: For me, night-time in Paris is synonymous with dinner in the Japanese neighbourhood, followed by a cocktail in Le Marais.
